The Mark of Athena

The Mark of Athena - Rick Riordan I actually already wrote a review for this book but my computer messed up and it didn't save. I have since read House of Hades so this book isn't as fresh on my mind.

While this was a great book, I felt myself drifting and feeling disconnected to the characters. Now that all seven demigods are together, it's a bit crowded. It was hard to keep up with all the shifting POV's and conflicting emotions.

The Jason/Percy rivalry was cringe-worthy to read. Both of them are strong in their own way (Okay honestly, Jason is kinda dumb) but I think we can all safely say that Jason has NOTHING on Percy.

The character that really stands out though, is Annabeth. She had so many great moments, with her reunion with Percy - flipping him to the ground and threatening him before giving him a huge hug. Adorable! And of course her solo quest to follow the mark of Athena. Unlike the others, her only power is her wisdom, but she really shows she one of the best.

The ending was powerful and heartbreaking, but I think I would have liked it better if it ended in the middle of the action - you know, a real cliffhanger. Still, it was good to tie up loose ends.
